As the name suggests, thin shell tri metal bearings have a thickness of the bearing ranging between 2 to 5 mm for the medium capacity engine and thickness up to 10 mm for high-capacity engines. The Babbitt bearing is manufactured by RA Power Solutions up to 1500 mm inner diameter.
White metal babbitt bearings are centrifugally cast and machined in-house. The old and damaged white metal bearings are rabbited and their machining is undertaken strictly as per the drawing or the sample maintaining the original profile of the oil grooves, etc.

I) Strict quality control procedures are followed right from the selection of raw material i.e. steel shell, white metal babbitt material, and various alloys used for tri metal and white metal bearing.
II) The rough and final machining of bearings is undertaken on most modern CNC machines which ensure the tolerances of tri metal bearing, bi metal bearing, and white metal babbitt bearing is maintained strictly as per the tolerances stipulated by the manufacturer.
It is observed that the thickness tolerance of the bearing is generally within 20 to 30 microns.
III) The bonding between the steel back of the bearing and aluminium tin alloy is ensured by a centrifugal process. It is again of great importance that the bonding between the steel shell and the alloy is strong.
IV) Undersize bearing or the bearing with a higher outer diameter than the standard is manufactured as per the drawing or sample of the bearing.
