PROCEDURE FOR REBABBITTING OF OLD BEARINGS:-
Removal of old white metal from steel casing under the regulated temperature.
Inspection of a crack in steel casing or bearing after removal of Babbitt white metal.
The crack detection is done by MPI and dye-penetrant test.
We give great importance to shot blasting/sandblasting of steel casing. This is done in the special-purpose shot blasting machines.
Checking the hardness of the steel casing and again checking for cracks after the shot blasting process.
Selection of a high grade of Babbitt metal, we prefer the use of a higher grade of Babbitt metal than the existing one to enhance the life of bearings.

BABBITT WHITE METAL | LEAD-BASED
It is the most common Babbitt metal which is used for manufacturing bearings. It contains more than 75% of lead alloy. The lead-based Babbitt metal also contains antimony and tin.
The lead-based Babbitt white metal is well-known for its excellent corrosion properties and is ideally used for the major components on board the ship. It can absorb high levels of moisture and humidity.
TIN-BASED BABBITT METAL
It has more than 80% of tin alloy and some % of antimony, lead, and copper. For the requirement in the food industry, the tin-based Babbitt recommended is free of lead which is considered to be harmful.
The tin based Babbitt has the inherent properties of low wear and tear and a very low line of friction resistance.
The tin based Babbitt metal is ideally used for mechanical equipment and it is also capable of taking heavy loads commonly used for compressors, diesel engines, electric motors, marine applications, etc.

ON RECEIPT OF BEARING FROM NIGERIA IT WAS THOROUGHLY INSPECTED FOR THE FOLLOWING:-
The old white Babbitt metal was removed under a controlled temperature.
Shot blasting of the bearing shell was undertaken.
The hardness of the inner diameter was checked.
Crack detection by MPI and dye-penetration test was undertaken of bearing steel casing.
A crack detection test by ultrasound method was done before and after Rebabbitting.
Ultrasound was again done to check the bonding of Babbitt white metal with steel casing.
Assistance was provided in the transportation of heavy bearings to our works for white metal rebabbitting from other countries.
We provide complete assistance in the export of damaged bearings and return of bearings to the end-user after turbine bearing repair.
We have a definite advantage of our location as we are only 30 30-minute drive from New Delhi International Airport.
