RA Power Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was approached by a company based in the USA regarding the development and manufacturing of Babbitt white metal BEZ generator bearing. The BEZ generator bearing is fitted on a CKD Skoda diesel generating set. The generator shaft developed ovality due to continuous running of the diesel generating set which is almost 30 years old. The BEZ alternator bearing got damaged and as per the technicians required replacement. The CKD Skoda manufacturing plant has been shut down for the last 25 years and RA Power Solutions was approached to develop the bearing.

The white metal grade for the babbitting of bearing used is 84 grade. Development and manufacturing of BEZ Alternator Babbitt white metal bearing.
Considering the urgent requirement of the client, RA Power Solutions took up the production of the bearing as a top priority. The shell of the bearing was forged due to the non-availability of the raw material. After machining, the babbitting of the white metal was undertaken by a centrifugal process which ensures that the bonding of Babbitt metal with the steel lining is strong and is dense. The final machining of the bearing was undertaken and all the dimensions were maintained as per the drawing submitted by the client.
